The National Tuberculosis (TB) Elimination Program’s Tuberculosis Unit (TU) Drug Store is the functional unit of the TU that deals with the supply chain management of anti-TB drugs.
- A dedicated space is allotted in each TU for upgradation of the space for storage and distribution of anti-TB drugs.
- Drugs are received from the NTEP district drug store based on quarterly consumption patterns and requirements, and existing buffer stock needs to be maintained at the TU drug store for all the present regimens in use.
- Drugs are issued to the Peripheral Health Institutions (PHIs) on a monthly basis.
- NTEP TU drug store utilizes Nikshay Aushadi portal for the management of anti-TB drugs and monitoring its utilization.
- TU drug store also ensures utilization of anti-TB drugs using the First-Expiry First-Out principle and dispatches drugs for reconstitution, especially second line drugs.
TB unit drug store is managed by NTEP supervisory staff (STS and STLS) involved in supervision, monitoring and troubleshooting any drug related issue in close coordination with the district NTEP team and general health system staff.
