Roles and responsibilities of stakeholders under Jan Andolan-
Jan Andolan meaning People’s movement, it’s of fight against TB. For people’s movement effective communications is needed for reaching out to maximum population and involve them in this Jan Andolan. There are several stakeholders who owe different roles and responsibilities in Jan Andolan.
Central TB Division - Central TB Division under MoH &FW has strategically planned the orientation till the level of Community Health Officers under Ayushman Bharat- Health and Wellness centres aiming at to reach out to population at village level and to plan Community sensitization on TB, Special drive for Contact Tracing and TB Preventive Interventions for household contacts of Index TB cases, Screening camps at all high footfall areas in all slums and migrant pockets supported by appropriate IEC material display/ distribution at Health & Wellness Centers.
Elected members- Orientation of Elected members like Member of Parliament, Member of legislative assembly to sensitize them about gravity of issue and highest possible political commitment needed to curtail disease in the community to achieve target of ending TB. To plan Disha Review Meeting on TB by District Magistrates under the chair of local elected representative.
Religious Leaders & Panchayati Raj Institutions(PRIs) - Engaging Religious Leaders & PRIs to conduct “Nikshay Gram Sabhas” simultaneously at all Gram Panchayats, Playing of Audio messages/ Short Video, Display of IEC material on TB, Distribution of flyers on TB and to conclude with “Nikshay Shapath” oath taking ceremony.
Media- Media workshop with Health Journalist to percolate correct knowledge about disease, to create awareness about government facilities for diagnosis, treatment and Nikshy Poshan yojana through Television, Radio and print media.
Corporates -Awareness of Corporates, Industries and Pledge by all members of State Chapters of Industry Associations for TB free workplace also to mitigate stigma and discrimination associated with the disease.
Children & Youth - Engaging Children & Youth through IEC display at all college/ university campuses, Project/ Assignment on TB for all school children and college students, Quiz and Debates on TB in all Red Ribbon Clubs.
Lions/Rotary Clubs- All Lions/Rotary Clubs to organize community sensitization and pledge taking events. TB Screening camps to be planned at all high footfall areas in States supported by appropriate IEC material display/ distribution covering all Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats in partnership with Clubs like Lions/ Rotary etc.
