In Paediatric TB patients (0–18 years) - diagnosis is difficult and different in comparison to TB occurring in adult patients.

Tuberculosis in paediatric cases is mainly due to failure of TB prevention andd cure in adults. Because of a less-developed immune system, children under 5 years of age are more prone to develop the disease mostly within 2 years following infection. The commonest age of childhood TB disease is 1 to 4 years. Young age is a risk factor for spread of disease to other parts of the body, i.e. dissemination.
