Rehabilitation Services for TB Patients
1. Nutritional Rehabilitation:
Care Providers:
Senior Treatment Supervisors, TB Health Visitors, ASHAs, ANMs, TB Treatment Supporters, Medical Officers (PHC/CHC)
Key Components:
Support provided through Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana.
Management of undernutrition in Nutritional Rehabilitation Centres (NRCs).
Linkages to the Public Distribution System (PDS) or Food Security Act for additional nutritional support.
2. Pulmonary Rehabilitation:
Care Providers:
Physiotherapists (male and female), Nurses, Attendants
Key Components:
Management of physical and psychological impairments caused by TB.
Reduction of disease-related handicaps.
3. Physical Rehabilitation:
Care Providers:
Therapists (male and female), Nurses, Doctors, Surgeons, Physiotherapists, Attendants
Key Components:
Management of post-treatment complications or sequelae.
Early identification of issues and regular periodic assessments.
4. Social Rehabilitation:
Care Providers:
TB Health Visitors, ASHAs, ANMs, TB Treatment Supporters, Medical Officers (PHC/CHC), Ni-kshay Mitra
Key Components:
Vocational rehabilitation through the Skill India initiative.
Integration with welfare schemes like RSBY, TB pension, MGNREGA, and NHPS.
5. Mental Rehabilitation:
Care Providers:
Psychiatrists, Psychologists/Counselors, TB Health Visitors, ASHAs, ANMs, TB Treatment Supporters, Medical Officers (PHC/CHC)
Key Components:
Psychological counseling for patients and their caregivers.
Assistance with end-of-life decision planning.
