One of the human resources required in the Intermediate Reference Laboratory (IRL) is the Senior Laboratory Technician (LT).
The Terms of Reference (TORs) of the Senior LT are:
- Perform laboratory test including Culture and Drug Susceptibility Testing (C&DST) as well as molecular detection of drug resistance
- Prepare panel testing slides for external quality assurance (EQA) of sputum smear microscopy
- Assist microbiologists during on-site evaluation/ assessment visits and logistics
- Facilitate laboratory training programmes
- Coordinate with state labs (C&DST, Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) and Designated Microscopy Centres (DMCs)) for prompt submission of performance indicators and validate
- Monitor lab performance (for all technologies) in states/union territories and compile laboratory data for analysis and submission to state and national reference laboratories
- Maintain laboratory equipment and perform periodic calibration
- Facilitate data entry of C&DST lab results into Nikshay/ Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
- Any other jobs assigned by the reporting officer.
