TrueNAT Test Sample Storage and Transportation Procedure

Samples collected for TrueNAT tests are tested immediately (if collected at TrueNAT facility) or transported on the same day to nearest linked TrueNAT facility.
- Collected samples are stored in the fridge (2°C to 8°C) with biosafety precautions during delay in testing/ transportation.
- Samples are transported to TrueNAT facility in a cool box (2°C to 8°C) with ice packs.
- At the TrueNAT laboratory:
- Processed sputum can be stored in lysis buffer for up to 1 week at 30°C or 3 days at 40°C.
- Processed non-sputum specimen can be stored in lysis buffer for 3 days at up to 40°C and 1 week at 30°C.
- The District TB Officer (DTO) needs to ensure stock of material used for specimen collection, storage and transportation at the collection center and TrueNAT facility.
