TB Case Finding is the health system or programmatic effort<\/strong> that aims to detect all TB Cases in the population as early as possible.<\/p>\n\n

Stages in TB Case Finding Effort:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

\n\t
Screening Test: <\/strong><\/span>In this step a suitable population is screened using a screening test (such as 4 Symptom Complex, Chest Radiography) to identify presumptive TB. The screening may be done in a passive (those who present with symptoms), intensified(for all cases attending a health facility) or active manner(community level or vulnerable group).<\/li>\n\t
Sample collection\/ Referral for Diagnosis:<\/strong><\/span> Presumptive TB cases identified need to be tested using a TB Diagnostic Test (Microscopy or NAAT).To achieve this the individual may be referred to a TB Diagnostic Centre(TDC) or a sample may be collected and transported to the TDC.<\/li>\n\t
Diagnosis:<\/strong><\/span> A definitive diagnosis of TB\/ not is made on the basis of the Laboratory test. In some cases a physician may make a clinical diagnosis of TB made considering other clincal parameters of the individual.<\/li>\n\t

Case Finding Care Cascade<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n
The staff performing the activity performs each activity with the assistance of Ni-kshay in all steps and tracks each individual they serve to complete all steps promptly.<\/p>\n\n
\n\t
Supervison: <\/strong><\/span>Supervisors monitor all individual entering the cascade on Ni-kshay and support the onground staff and personnel to prevent leaks in the cascade.<\/li>\n\t
Monitoring:<\/strong><\/span> Program managers at all levels(PHI, Block\/TU, District, State) need to monitor Case FInding and take early management decisions to ensure that there are no significant leaks in the care cascade. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
Efficiency of Care Finding effort<\/strong>: The efficiency of Case Finding effort is dependent on:<\/p>\n\n

Sensitivity of the tests <\/span><\/strong>(screening and diagnostic tests): Using tests with higher sensitivity (such as Xray for screening and NAAT for diagnosis) will ensure that lesser cases are missed in the case finding effort.<\/li>\n\t
