It includes additional slides, laboratory reagents, sputum cups, falcon tubes, sample transport boxes, X-ray films, cartridge-based Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (CBNAAT) cartridges, etc. Additional sputum containers (minimum 1000 per lakh population) <\/li>\n\t
Linkages of Peripheral Health Institute (PHI) with TB Detection Centre (TDC), X-ray facilities, CBNAAT lab, Extra Pulmonary (EP) sample collection, and EP testing should be included.<\/li>\n\t

They go house to house in the mapped areas and screen individuals for symptoms of TB<\/strong><\/span>. Individuals are screened for persistent cough for \u22652 weeks, fever for \u22652 weeks, significant weight loss (>5% weight loss over the last 3 months), presence of blood in sputum at any time during the last 6 months, chest pain in the last one month, history of Anti-TB Treatment (previous\/ current).<\/p>\n\t<\/li>\n\t

If any of these is present, a sputum cup or falcon tube<\/strong><\/span> is given to them and a sputum sample is collected.<\/p>\n\t<\/li>\n\t
\n\t
Collected sputum samples are transported to a designated lab<\/strong><\/span> using the sample transport system existing in the area.<\/p>\n\t<\/li>\n\t
\n\t
Testing using smear microscopy\/CBNAAT <\/strong><\/span>is done for all symptomatic persons as per the state policy. Those who are microbiologically confirmed to be positive are initiated on treatment within 2 days<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n\t<\/li>\n\t
\n\t
Additionally, the team will look for other symptoms\/diseases<\/strong>.<\/span> If person presents any symptoms or other ill health, they are referred for evaluation by a medical officer for further management, if needed.
