Learning Objectives

Participants will learn Types of AEFI by severity and frequency to:

  1. Understand AEFI Classification: Gain a clear understanding of how Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) are classified by severity and frequency.
  2. Identify Minor AEFI: Recognize and classify minor AEFI, such as local reactions (pain, redness, swelling at the injection site) and systemic reactions (fever, irritability, mild rash).
  3. Identify Moderate AEFI: Recognize and classify moderate AEFI, including prolonged fever, severe local reactions (extensive redness or swelling), and mild allergic reactions (hives, mild respiratory symptoms).
  4. Identify Severe AEFI: Recognize and classify severe AEFI, such as anaphylaxis (difficulty breathing, swelling of the throat), and serious neurological reactions (seizures, encephalopathy).
  5. Differentiate AEFI by Frequency: Understand the frequency of AEFI occurrences and differentiate between common, rare, and very rare AEFI.
