Effective vaccine and logistics management is crucial for the Adult BCG vaccination programme. Key steps include:
- Requirement Estimation: Estimate the needs for Adult BCG vaccine doses and logistics in advance, considering wastage rates.
- Cold Chain and Dry Space Assessment: Assess existing cold chain and dry space availability at all supply chain levels and develop augmentation plans if necessary.
- Manufacturer Consistency: Ensure the vaccine and diluent supplied are from the same manufacturer.
- Dedicated ILR Allocation: Cold Chain Handlers at SVS, RVS, DVS, and CCP should earmark a dedicated ILR (if possible) for Adult BCG Vaccination.
- Store vaccines and diluents in a dedicated (to be stored in +2°C to +8°C), clearly labelled area to avoid mixing with BCG for UIP.
Storage Instructions:
- WIC: Use separate, appropriately labelled shelves.
- ILR: Use a separate ILR if available, or a separate, clearly labelled box if stored in the same ILR with UIP vaccines.
