BACTEC MGIT 960 Tube with Media [7 ml]

The MGIT tube contains a modified Middlebrook 7H9 broth base, which contains large amounts of dissolved oxygen (Figure below). The headspace of the tube is flushed with a carbon dioxide enriched atmosphere.

Components of MGIT Medium Tube

• 7.0 ml of modified 7H9 broth base per 1000 ml of purified water consists of the following active ingredients:
  • Modified Middlebrook 7H9 broth base: 5.9 gm
  • Casein peptone 1.25 gm
• Fluorescent sensor embedded in silicone on the bottom of the tube
• Tube is flushed with 10% CO₂ at the time of filling
• Capped with polypropylene screw caps
