TB Preventive Treatment among People Living with HIV (Adults, Adolescents and Children)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Adults and children (>12 months) living with HIV should be screened for TB using the four symptom complex and TPT<\/strong><\/span> to be provided to those without symptoms or after ruling out active TB in those with TB symptoms. TPT should be given to all these individuals irrespective of the degree of immunosuppression, whether they are on antiretroviral treatment (ART), previous TB treatment, and\/or pregnancy in women.<\/li>\n\t

All HIV-infected TB patients if not already tested, should be tested for drug susceptibility before initiation of treatment<\/span><\/strong>. If found resistant, the patient must be referred to the nearest DR-TB centre under NTEP and recorded as DRTB \/Rif resistant. PLHIV with drug resistant TB should be managed by DR-TB center in consultation with ART centre.<\/li>\n\t
The STS of TU where ART Centre\/NAAT site is located (nodal TU) will link the patient to the concerned TU<\/span><\/strong> based on the residence of the patient for TB treatment and follow up as per NTEP guidelines. STS (nodal TU) will also be responsible to obtain the registration details from the concerned TU.<\/li>\n\t
Two copies of TB Treatment card<\/strong><\/span> will be prepared by the staff nurse and duly signed by the medical officer. One copy of the TB treatment card is to be handed over to the patient.<\/li>\n\t
Regular follow up of patients, testing for sputum as per NTEP Guidelines and adherence to ATT & ART treatment is to be ensured by the treatment supporter, STS, STLS, ART MO.
