ASHAs will support those diagnosed with Active TB in treatment initiation and completion. She will inform the individual about the treatment-duration, medicine doses, expected side effects, and how to take care of themselves during the course of the treatment.

ASHA will support in monitoring the TB affected individual throughout the treatment and in case identifies or is reported any side effect will report to the CHO/MO for further care.

ASHA will also ensure that each TB affected individual is checked for co-morbidities/conditions such as diabetes, malnourishment, etc. and ensure they are provided appropriate treatment and care.

To ensure TB treatment adherence, the ASHA should  Collect and keep Anti TB Drugs for the newly diagnosed patient and ensure that he/she consumes the medicine in presence of ASHA every day

Furthermore, the ASHA will collect details of bank account/post office account & a copy of passbook from patient to CHO/MO/STS for entering in Ni-kshay to ensure DBT. If no account is available, she will facilitate creating one account.

In case the TB affected individual has opted for a food basket, she will support the delivery of the food basket by the Nikshay Mitra to the patient and household contacts.
